Weekly reflection:week 1

 Self-Reflection-Week 1 (B.Ed Teaching Practice)

The first week of my teaching practice was a meaningful learning experience that helped me strengthen my classroom teaching skills and understand school culture. Ihandled a total of five classes teaching Chemistry for Standard 9 and Physics or Standard 8. The chemnistry chapter covered was Redox Reactions, while in physics taught Static Electricity.

Inthe Chemistry classes, began by assessing students prior knowledge about oxidation and reduction. I used simple examples from dally life to explain the concepts, which he|ped students relate better. However,Irealised that some students struggled to differentiate oxidation and reduction processes. o adress this, incorporated more diagramns and step-by-step chemical equations, which gradually improved comprehension. I also used question-answer essions to check conceptual clarity.

In Physics, while teaching Static Electricity, I USed demonstrations SuCt as rubbing a baloon on hair to show charge development. Students were enthusiastic and engaged we/l because of the practical examples. However, managing time within the lesson plan was challenging, as discussions took longer than expected. learned that |need to pace the activities better and allocate more time for studentinteraction.

Beyond classroom teaching, I participated in school co-curricular activities. I observed Kaliyattam, a traditional art form performed on the theme of environmental protection, which helped me understand how cultural expressions can be effectively integrated into awareness programmes.lalso attended a group run organized by SPC cadets to spread awareness against drug abuse. These experiences helped me recognize the role of schools in shaping values, promoting community involvement, and ensuring holistic development.

Overall this week helped me improve my tommunication, develop classroom management techniques, and explore different teaching strategies. I look forward to refining my lesson delivery, incorporating varied teaching aids, and making my classes more learner-centere in the coming weeks
