Week 5 of my teaching practice, though short in duration, was a meaningful and insightful experience that contributed to my professional growth. During this period, I handled two classes of Standard VIII Physics, which helped me further develop my confidence in subject delivery and classroom interaction.
In the Physics classes, I focused on presenting concepts in a clear and simple manner, using appropriate examples to help students relate the content to real-life situations. I encouraged student participation through questioning and brief discussions, which helped in assessing their understanding and maintaining an active classroom environment. This experience strengthened my communication skills and improved my ability to manage time effectively within a limited period.
In addition to academic teaching, I actively observed and supported the co-curricular activity of medicine distribution against worm infestation. This activity made me realize the important role schools play in promoting students’ health and well-being. It also helped me understand how health awareness programs complement classroom learning by ensuring students’ physical fitness, which is essential for effective learning.
This week helped me reflect on the importance of balancing academic responsibilities with students’ health and welfare. I also recognized the need to further improve my use of teaching aids and to incorporate more interactive strategies in future classes.
Overall, Week 5 was a valuable learning experience that enhanced my sense of responsibility as a teacher and reinforced the importance of holistic development of students through both curricular and co-curricular activities.
