Self-Reflection on Teaching Practice –Week 5( 24/11/2025 to 28/11/2025)

Week 5 of my teaching practice was a meaningful and productive learning experience that helped me strengthen my subject knowledge, teaching skills, and understanding of students. During this week, I handled two classes of Standard IX Chemistry and two classes of Standard VIII Physics, which gave me the opportunity to work with learners of different age groups and learning abilities.

In the Standard IX Chemistry classes, I focused on clear explanation of concepts and encouraged students to actively participate through questioning and discussion. I made conscious efforts to relate the concepts to daily life situations, which helped students understand the subject better and increased their interest in chemistry. In the Standard VIII Physics classes, I adopted a simple and interactive approach by using examples, demonstrations, and questioning techniques to make the concepts more meaningful and learner-friendly. Handling both subjects helped me improve my adaptability and confidence in teaching.

Apart from classroom teaching, I actively participated in co-curricular activities, which added great value to my teaching practice. I was involved in the INIX Academy Coloring Competition, where I observed students’ creativity, imagination, and enthusiasm. This activity helped me understand the importance of nurturing students’ artistic skills along with academic learning. I also witnessed the Kitty Puppetry Show on Drug Abuse, which effectively conveyed social awareness messages in an engaging manner. The puppetry show created a strong impact on students and highlighted the role of creative methods in value-based education.

Through this week, I improved my classroom management, communication skills, and time management. I also became more aware of the need to address individual differences among learners. However, I realized that I need to further improve my use of teaching aids and ICT tools to make lessons more effective.

Overall, Week 5 was a rewarding experience that enhanced my confidence and reinforced the importance of integrating academic learning with co-curricular activities. This week helped me grow as a reflective and responsible teacher, committed to holistic development of students.
